What RAM Does Legion 5i Pro Gen 7 Use?

All the models of the Legion 5i Pro Gen 7 use DDR5-4800 RAM. Buy two of the same spec RAM to make use of the dual-channel capability.

I recommend you buy dual rank(2Rx8) memory. The Legion does not support XMP, so do not buy XMP RAM.

How To Upgrade SSD In The Legion 5i Pro Gen 7 Laptop

Upgrading the Legion’s SSD drive is a simple process. You will need to purchase an M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD Gen 4 drive and remove the back panel as shown in the steps below.

This laptop supports PCIe 4×4 so purchase a Gen 4 SSD drive for the best performance.

The Legion 5i Pro Gen 7 has two M.2 slots: M2 2280 and M2 2242.

SSD Drive TypeInterface
M.2 2242 SSDPCIe NVMe, PCIe 4.0 x4Up To 512GB

The specs only show up to 1TB in the M.2 2280 slot but it can hold at least a 2TB M.2 NVMe PCIe Gen 4 SSD drive. See below for options.

The following steps show how to upgrade the SSD drive in your Legion 5i Pro Gen 7 laptop. Ensure you disable the internal battery prior to removing or replacing any component.

  1. Make sure the Legion 5i Pro Gen 7 is turned off and disconnect the A/C adapter.
  2. Close the display and turn over the laptop.
